For a long time I have been captivated by the work of Chagall. The sense of colour and freedom in his work is incredible. There is also a connection to people, places and his own cultural roots that comes through. I have tried in my own painting to evoke some of these themes. I work mostly in watercolour but sometimes like to combine watercolour and charcoal. I also love the working in oil pastel and laying down thick swatches of colour.
